Harry Kane had his scoring boots on once again, finding the target twice, as Tottenham thrashed Huddersfield Town 4-0 at lunchtime on Saturday. Ben Davies and Moussa Sissoko also netted for Spurs.
Five 15:00 fixtures then followed, with Manchester United also winning 4-0 thanks to two Marouane Fellaini goals against Crystal Palace. Juan Mata and Romelu Lukaku were also on the scoresheet.
High-flying Watford held West Brom to a 2-2 draw away from home thanks to Richarlison's 95th-minute equaliser but there was less drama at Bournemouth, who drew 0-0 with Leicester City.
West Ham recorded a much-needed 1-0 win at home against Swansea City and Stoke City were 2-1 victors over Southampton.
In the evening kick-off, De Bruyne's precise strike from 20 yards ensured City's fine performance at Chelsea was rewarded with three points.
On Sunday, Arsenal are at home against Brighton to get things started.
Everton then take on Burnley in a north-west match-up before the action closes with a classic Premier League fixture: Newcastle United against Liverpool.

In the UK, Premier League games will be available to watch live on Sky Sports and BT Sport, with the BBC broadcasting highlights on Match of the Day. Viewers will also be able to stream games live online using Sky Go and the BT Sport app.

In the U.S., up to 250 Premier League games will be available to watch live on television on NBC's various channels, including NBC, NBCSN and CNBC. These games can be streamed on NBC Sports Live.
The network also announced in June that a further 130 games would be exclusively available with the 'Premier League Pass' on NBC Sports Gold. The 'Premier League Pass' service will cost $50.

The early kick-off last weekend was at the London Stadium, where Tottenham raced into a 3-0 lead in the second half.

Watford emerged 2-1 winners in Wales thanks to Richarlison's late winner, while the Toffees earned three points by the same scoreline over Bournemouth after a two-goal second-half cameo from Oumar Niasse.
In the evening fixture, Liverpool's defence was imperfect once again but goals from Mohamed Salah, Philippe Coutinho and Jordan Henderson earned the Reds a 3-2 win over Leicester City.
The busy Saturday schedule is a consequence of five clubs playing Champions League matches on Tuesday and Wednesday the following week.
The sole Sunday fixture was between newly promoted Brighton and Newcastle United, with Chris Hughton's Seagulls triumphing 1-0 thanks to a Tomer Hemed strike. That result sees them move ahead of Everton into 13th.
